Tsujii Takashi

Tsujii Takashi (辻井 喬?, March 30, 1927 -) is a Japanese author and poet, and the pen name of Tsutsumi Seiji (堤清 二), a major business leader.[1]

Tsujii is the son of Tsutsumi Yasujirō, founder of the Seibu Railway company and a long-serving member, and eventually speaker, of Japan's House of Representatives.[2] He was born in Tokyo and, after receiving his degree in economics from the University of Tokyo in 1951, began work as a secretary to his father. He took on a series of executive roles, culminating in corporate leadership, including serving as chairman of the Saison group of companies, whose brands include Seibu Department Stores, Seiyū supermarket, Wave (a music shop), Parco (shopping complex), Muji(a variety store) and Loft (a variety store).[3] His fortune was more than 70 billion dollars in 1987.

In addition to his business career, Tsujii has also had a notable career as writer and poet under his pen name, and has served as Director of International PEN Club, Japan. His work has been translated into Arabic, Chinese, English, French, Korean, and Russian.
